Microneedling — clinically called collagen induction therapy — uses a precision device to create thousands of microscopic channels in the skin. RF microneedling takes that mechanism and stacks radiofrequency energy on top. How Microneedling Works
A handheld pen with sterile micro-needles oscillates at high speed across the treatment area. Needle depth is adjustable — typically 0.5mm to 2.5mm depending on the area and goal. Each pass creates thousands of micro-channels. The skin doesn’t recognize “cosmetic intent” — it reads injury and triggers repair: new collagen, new elastin, increased blood flow, accelerated cell turnover. Results build over 4–12 weeks as remodeling completes.

What to Expect During Your Appointment
- Intake and skin analysis. Goals, history, medications, recent procedures, sun exposure.
- Cleanse and topical numbing. Numbing cream sits 20–30 minutes — this is the longest part of the visit.
- Treatment. Device passes across the area in a methodical pattern. Depth adjusted by zone — deeper on cheeks and chin, shallower around eyes. With RF microneedling, you’ll feel warmth from the RF energy.
- Optional add-ons. Hyaluronic acid or growth factor serums applied during or after — penetration is dramatically enhanced through the micro-channels.
- Soothing serum, SPF, aftercare instructions. You leave with everything you need for healing.
- Series scheduling. We map out the full plan so you’re not guessing.
Total appointment: 60–90 minutes including numbing.
Pre-Treatment Prep
- Stop retinol/tretinoin 5–7 days before
- No waxing, threading, or laser hair removal on the area for 1 week
- No active acne treatments (benzoyl peroxide, salicylic) for 3–5 days
- Avoid direct sun exposure for 2 weeks pre-treatment
- Tell us about cold sore history — pre-treatment with antivirals if needed
- Hold off on facials, peels, or dermaplaning for 2 weeks before
- No blood thinners or NSAIDs 48 hours before (clear with your doctor first if prescribed)
- Show up with clean skin, no makeup
Post-Treatment Care
First 24 Hours
- No washing the area for the timeframe we specify
- No sweating, workouts, sauna, or hot showers
- No makeup
- Skin will feel warm, look pink/red — like a mild sunburn
Days 2–5
- Gentle cleanser only
- Bland moisturizer (we send you home with what to use)
- SPF 30+ every morning, reapply through the day
- Skin may feel rough or sandpaper-like as healing completes — normal
- No actives (retinol, AHAs, BHAs, vitamin C) until cleared
- No swimming pools, hot tubs, or saunas
Weeks 1–4
- Reintroduce actives slowly under our guidance
- Continue daily SPF — non-negotiable
- Avoid extended direct sun
- Schedule next session if running a series (typically 4–6 weeks apart)
RF microneedling specifically: add 1–2 days to each timeline above. Mild swelling for 24–48 hours is normal.
